Cruise Thailand's west coast featuring limestone islands rising dramatically from the Andaman sea. Take a dip back in time to the late 1980s and meet legendary sailor and author, Tristan Jones. Tristan had paused his East-Around circumnavigation to help disabled youth learn how to sail. At this point, he had lost his own leg, but didn't let that keep him from sailing the oceans.
Tristan is intrigued with the deck space of a 40 plus foot catamaran. He can see it accommodating disabled sailors in wheelchairs. The catamaran charts a course along the coast south to Krabi so Tristan can sea trial the vessel. In Krabi, Tristan speculates about sailing the coast of China predicting China will become a major sailing ground in the 21st century. (
November 15, 2018) – Clipper Ventures, the British organizer of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, co-founded by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and William Ward OBE, today announced the biggest expansion in its 23-year history, with the opening of a new Chinese-based division, to meet the country’s growing participation in sailing.
